Irish language short stories by Máire Dinny Wren. Stories of women struggling against the forces of disempowerment that hold them back in a world that is not always just or fair. The wish for personal freedom compels many of the characters in these stories to fight for their physical, artistic and spiritual liberation. Violence, betrayal, destitution and emigration are some of the challenges that face the characters; each story is driven by a keen understanding of humanity and love, deep-seated in the psyche of each character. The stories are poetically written, in a voice that indicates that there is always more going on beneath the surface.
