Old Irish – A Beginner’s Guide *PRE-ORDER forthcoming Summer/Autumn 2025*

Medieval Ireland offers a rich and varied corpus of literature including saga, law, religion, pseudo-history and poetry. It was one of the earliest cultures in medieval Europe to produce extensive literature in its own vernacular, however much of this literature is waiting to be rediscovered and studied. While it is challenging to learn Old Irish, this has less to do with the language and more to do with the lack of suitable materials to assit in the learning journey.

This book has been deliberately written with the absolute beginner in mind (including those with no prior grammatical training). An accessible introduction for the interested lay person, and a useful guide for scholars.
