Snámh na Saoirse

An imaginative and poetic retelling of a tragic true story that took place on the Blasket Islands in 1909. A love story between Domhnall Ó Criomhthain, islander, and Eibhlín Nic Niocaill, scholar from the capital. Méiní Uí Dhuinnshléibhe, the island midwife is trying her best to arrange a marriage between them. At the same time, Cáit Ní Chriomhthain, Domhnall’s sister, is trying her best to escape an arranged marriage and emigrate.
